How to leave a comment!

Is anybody reading this thing in internet land?

Ok, I know some people actually check this thing but a number of you have said you don't know how to leave a comment so...

To those of you who haven't quite figured it out yet here are some pretty detailed instructions on how to leave a comment on a blog post.

1. Read blog and at the end of each post it says posted by "writers name" and it gives a time, which is followed by a line that reads "# comments".
2. Click on the word "comments"
3. You can then view any comments others have left and there is a box for you to write your comments in!
4. Usually there is a little word verification box for security purposes so just type in what you see above that.
5. Then under Choose an identity there are a few options: if you have a blog account you can use your account name, but for most of you what you want to do is just select the anonymous option and you can put your name in the comment if you like.
6. Hit the button that says "publish your comment" and waalaa it is all done!

Hope that helps and hope to hear from you soon!

I'm sending smiles and hugs to everyone!!!

What's Happening...

I've finally gotten around to loading up a swarm of pictures so here is the latest and greatest!

After celebrating my birthday it was time to tote Jessica and Moca along to some races for the weekend.

Off to the track!

view of the city

FRIDAY: Track racing at Trexlertown was on the agenda and after an easy recovery ride friday morning I was ready to go see what the night had in store. The main event of the night was Tandom Nationals, which I must say was pretty crazy and entertaining. The teams had to first do a flying lap and then they competed in match sprints on tandom bikes! Two American riders broke the flying one lap record coming in at a smokin fast 17.35 seconds and overtaking the old record of 17.49 which had been held since 1993 by Australia. So hats off to those boys and a big congratulations!!!

As for us girls we had a few events on the schedule: an elimination race, a 5K scratch race, and a 10lap tempo race. I was doing alright in the elimination until I let me head escape me for a moment only to realize I was last across the line and pulled (they pull out the last rider across the line each lap), but Theresa and Jessie made it to the final 3 and brought in 2nd and 3rd. The 5K scratch race is kinda a blur and I don't really remember what happend but I thought I was feeling pretty good. Then I went to the infield to wait for the next race and my legs started talking to me...meaning I went from "o, I feel pretty good" to "ah, not so sure this feeling is good." As it turns out that feeling wasn't so bad afterall. The 10lap tempo race is obviously 10 laps and they give points to the first 2 riders across the line each lap with bonus points for the mid-way and final sprint. I got away on an early flyer and took 1st place in the first lap. Then with my legs being pretty spent I settled back into the pack and just tryed to keep in good position toward the front. In the end there were 3 girls off the front and then my group of 3 girls had a bit of a gap on the main pack. Jessie was on the front of my group and being such an amazing pursuiter she reeled the leaders in with less than a lap to go and I decided as we were hiting turn 4 that it was time to see if I could punch it over these girls? I came up the track a bit, boxed a bit with another girl attempting to move up and got up alongside the front runners. Once they saw me they gave their kick and it was then that I knew I had more goods left in my legs, I punched it and hoped that there weren't any speed demonds coming from behind to overtake me. No speed demonds that night and I got my wheel across the line first so I was pretty happy with that!

Finally starting to feel like my form might be coming back!

O, and for a bit of humor I have a funny story about the car trip to T-town. Moca was of course with us and I had cleared a large area for her to hang out in the back of my car next to my bikes. We had just gotten on the highway when all of the sudden Moca makes a dive between the back of my seat and the folded up back seats...

Moca insisting it really is quite comfortable...

Once we got her out she spent the rest of our ride time at the passenger side feet

Unless I got out of the car and then she took over the drivers side

Crazy dog!

Jess also got this shot of the car and I thought I would use it as an example of the advantages to having extreamly short legs!!! I bet you can't fit your bike in a station wagon like that tall boys!

Before Saturdays race Jess and I did a bit of sight seeing and walking around...

On a park bench

Jess climbing the famous stairs Rocky used to run on

Jess and I at Rocky statue

Philly is full of murals of all sorts scattered through the city.

This is in Manayunk

And this is my favorite one so far...I found it while doing a little exploring on a ride the other day!

check out the dancing people on the sign! maybe I like it becuase I like to think someday I will take the time to learn some fun dances!

Maia - I still want to do that break dancing if I ever make it back to MI for a reasonable amount of time!

Some of you might want to sit down before reading this next bit if you aren't seated already. I actually made a bit of breakfast one morning while Jess was here! Now I really do like doing this sord of thing, I just don't get around to it all that often.

I had picke up some sweedish pancake mix when I went exploring at IKEA

whipped up some of those babies

topped em with strawberries and waalaa!!!

I made eggs too but I didn't snap any photos.

SATURDAY:
Moca sat around and looked beautiful, attracting plenty of attention and comments

As for the race, that went pretty well! I made a few tactical errors and learned more as usual but my legs still seem to be coming back and that is good news for me and the team! I won a few sprints within the race and was feeling pretty strong, at least able to put out and effort and then recover in a reasonable amount of time. Toward the end of the race after I had been off the front with another girl the pack caught on and Jessie and I got off the front with quite a gap on the pack. Jessie was doing all of the pulling and I was hanging on. We ended up getting caught with less than a lap to go. In the end, I won 3 premes and got 9th, Theresa won 2 premes and got 2nd, Jessie won 1 preme and got 15th, and the other girls all placed in the money.

So here are a few pictures to round this update up

This week is now filled with recovery and rest in preparation for Road Nationals in Seven Springs, PA. The Road Race will be on the 16th and then we have a few more days to recover and rest up before Altoona(a climbing state race). Wish me luck, I'm going to do my best to keep up on the hills!

Ta Ta for now!

It's Official...

21 years of life in the books. Although I will never be able to put my true appreciation in words I want to give a quick shout out to my parents! I have had so many opportunities and great experiences thanks to them! It's hard to screw up too bad when I've been raised sooo well. So, I want to thank my wonderful, amazing, loving, encouraging mommy and daddy who I miss dearly but carry with me everywhere I go! And of course a shout out to everyone else who I have crossed paths with, as you have all contributed to the person I am and I continue to become!

I was super lucky and got a great Birthday present this year!...my sister and babe came to visit me in Philly for a few days!

Here they are...

Jess and I

Moca was having non of that

Awwww

Me and my babe!

Yeah here are a few more pictures of Mocers cause she's just too cute!

Presents from Theresa and Gary!

The card with the bike is to provide me with a new kind of bike so I can try a form of cycling I have not yet done. We have a bit of a joke over my habit of trying to compete in multiple diciplines of cycling at a high level, while also doing other activities. Gary has told me a time of two that it should be a recovery day and "Kacey, that dosn't mean go for a 4 hour hike." - I of course am getting better at balancing things.
The two country CD's have a story as well. I'm pretty much the only one that listens to and country and it took me awhile to pry the truth out of Jessie on the car ride here, so she listened to more of it than I'm sure she perfered. Luckily I listen to a wide variety of music and I'm usually content, but that dosn't mean I get away free. Jessie is often telling me in her cute Aussie accent "Kacey, you sing everything like it's country!" We have quite a lot of fun with the issue and it is all in good humor!

We all went out to ihop for breakfast and has some good food...thanks J Mac!

And of course the training for the day was uninterupted my the fact that I was a year older. I got to thrash up some hills doing repeats and then finish off with just about 4 hours on the saddle! It felt good for sure!

Then the most important decision of the day as usual...what to do for dinner? Gary did some mad research and found a great sounding place called Engine 46, which was suposed to be one of the best steakhouses in Philly and located in a 100 year old fire station. Sounded great but didn't look so good...

so of course, Gary had a backup plan and we went to LongHorn, which was only appropiate with its country decor and music...haha!

1st drink of the night with the girls, they didn't card any of us and they served my sis...that will work!

Dinner was great and we headed back to the house & as usual the icecream truck was making its rounds...what the heck kind of icecream truck drives around on week nights at 9:30 and 10:00 at night, and how come i never got to eat icecream that late mom and dad...whats up with that?!?!

Then back out to Dave and Busters for a few more drinks and some games...

Gary practicing his boxing skills, just incase he needs to take care of someone for us girls!

good thing he won!

Jessie bringing out the guns

Jessica and Jessie lay it out there

The speed demon's go at it

Jessie and I keeping everyone entertained...man we really should just stick to bike racing...

I've got more good news and updates to inform you all with but I'm going to put this out there and worry about the rest later! My body is calling for some yoga of sorts and a good easy pedal!

Hope all is well with everyone and I send my Love!

Another day...

It's scary how much I've been updating this thing lately but I've been enjoying it now that I have my camera back and we actaully have internet at our house! Plus, I like the idea of having the stories to look back on and while I'm at it why not share them with you!

So this morning I woke up to this very blog worthy hair style and well the picture speaks for itself...

This morning it was up and out to the field with the crew to do plyo's...ouch...at least this time Gary did feel like challenging me in a wall sit competition! Next session I will try to remember the camera and capture some painful faces for your enjoyment!

Per usual plyo's was followed by a protein shake and a few hours rest. We watched the movie Stomp The Yard and it renewed my desire to take some crazy fun dancing class someday in my spare time! I'm a sucker for dancing for some reason...it can't possibly be becuase I'm good at it but maybe that's why I like it...no expectations, just fun!

Afternoon was just an easy spin out on the bike to try and shake off the plyo work out and get ready for tomorrow's motor pacing at the track! I got a few pictures as I road around and played tourist a bit. One of my new goals is to try and really see more of the areas I travel to. I have spent far to much time traveling places for competitions and not making a point of exploring enough. I don't mean I want to do more tourist activities, but I want to try and really see the places I go, talk with the locals, find out about "hidden treasures" so to say.

This huge ship sits on the shore not too far from where I'm staying...not sure of it's significance, but wouldn't it be cool to go exploring inside?...umm...

Here is a functioning cruise ship that offers lunch/dinner/moonlight on the water

The NJ shore just across the way from my ride

And my favorite kind of boat...a sailboat! Daddy it reminds me of you and makes me want to be out sailing with you yelling at me to "watch the BOOM"...I only got hit once incase anyone is wondering.

Now I'm waiting on Jess and Moca to roll into town and have some good times. Jess and I would like to go into the city tonight with the crew but depending on the weather, which is pending rain at the moment, we may have a change in plans.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!

"Fallacy Flat?"...no a real one!!!

I've never been so happy to realize that I really did have a flat rear tire. This morning I headed out with Theresa to Manayunk, which is the location of the famous "wall" climb in the Philly Liberty Classic race...yes, the same one that took me out of the Philly race. And the plan was to do repeats on the sucker...o bring on the pain! Got the first one under my belt and tried to relax in preperation for the next. Climb #2: going well, up the first steep section, turn slightly left, up the next steep section, cross a side street and almost get hit becuase i'm too delirious to realize what is going on, dang what is wrong with my legs? Usually I just feel like a have a flat and I'm fooling myself but I finally brought myself to look down and sure enough my rear tire is slowly gaining more surface area with the road. So you know the routine, change the tube and decend to finish my repeats, so it was a good morning. Got a few pictures on the way home...

the rowing houses along the river

Philly is getting ready for 4th of July concert and festivities

After a few house of rest, refueling, & chilling out we headed to a tuesday night crit and I'm finally starting to feel like I'm getting my legs back and in conditions for some speed. I still have work to do for sure but today was at least incouraging!

On a super positive and excited note my Lil Sister Jessica and my babe girl Moca are coming tomorrow to visit for a week and I couldn't be more excited to see both of them and get to spend some time together! I don't know how Jess does it but somehow she has learned to put up with me and love me for it at the same time, coming to see me while I'm off going crazy things, cart along to bike events, and always be so understanding of training, rest, etc. I'm also stoked to play with Moca and wrestle around in the park!...o I'm excited just thinking about it! Plus they will be here for my birthday! I couldn't have asked for a better present!

Wow, I've been doing and incredible job of updating lately...lets see if I can keep it up!

My love, hugs, and smiles to all!
